Remaining Days

Well... That's it. I'm officially off duty. The family has left and are headed to France for their summer holidays. I am here in the house with a messy room and quiet.

I'm working (slowly) on packing. I think I'm actually going to be able to make it all fit. However, if the airline has issues with over sized check in luggage I'm screwed. My suitcase was 68lbs when I brought it here (18lbs over the 50lb limit). I have no idea how much it will be when I through stuffing it, but I'm guessing it will be several pounds heavier. Thank goodness for good luggage!

Soon I will be going into Madrid for my last First Friday of the month run with the Hash. I will stick around and mingle for a while then I will head home to my empty house.

On Saturday (tomorrow) I have nothing planned except for my last Madrid Hash House Harriers run in the evening. Jenny should be back from her Eastern Europe adventures and I'm sure she'll want to go out. It's her last weekend in Madrid too. I think tomorrow I will sleep in.

I have nothing planned on Sunday. Nothing at all. I'm guessing I will have a late night on Saturday so Sunday might be a relax and recoup day. Jenny and I had been talking about having a poolside BBQ here before she went on her vacation. When she gets back we'll see if that's still something she is interested in. It would be nice to be social without having to leave the house for once.

Monday will be my last real day in Madrid. I have no idea what I will do. I'm guessing Jenny and I might wander around together or I might just hang out in Tres Cantos, go for a run, and have a quiet reflective day. I'm not sure. I'm going to have to play that one by ear.

And Tuesday will be the day I (we've) been waiting for! My flight doesn't leave until 3:30p which is really nice because it means I can take my time getting out the door. Which is good because I'm going to need time. It is going to take me a while to lug my 70ish pound suit case and 30ish pound backpack the three quarters of a mile (up hill) to the bus stop. Luckily once I get on the bus it will take me the airport no transfers needed. Then after a few hours of Business Class travel and a two our layover in Paris I'll be in Boston waiting with open arms for Flynn's plane to land. Then the next adventure begins!

So yep... that's my next few days in a nutshell. I'm really calm right now. And relaxed. I'm feeling a little sad, but I think that also has to do with the fact that I'm a little tired and just at a big meal. I feel sort of groggy. I'm hoping that will lift when I head into Madrid to meet with my friend and her visiting family before tonight's run. If not maybe a beer or a run... or both will help. We'll see!
