I don't know what I did to my computer, but a couple days ago it did not want to be fast anymore. It is pretty annoying. That being said, I can not load any pictures at this time. That's ok though, I am going to go out tonight and will have several more pictures. So maybe when I get my computer working as quickly as it should, I can include those pictures.
Other then my computer issues, this has been a very good week in Madrid. I have been working on changing my perspective so that I enjoy being here more. Last weekend was a struggle, but I have reconsidered my reasons for being here and the potential for growth and now I am ready to see and do all that I can here.
One of my couchsurfing friends, Jenny, and I have made plans to go to Cordoba, Spain in two weeks. We will catch a 1am bus and get to Cordoba at about 6am. We will stay one night and return to Madrid on Sunday evening. I am very excited. Jenny is a lot of fun and comfortable with the spanish language.
Speaking of the spanish language, it has been surprisingly difficult to find affordable classes here in Spain! I am unwilling to pay 15euros an hour and I don't wan to wait until June to start the classes, so my options are very limited. I have decided that I am going to have to take my education into my own hands. I have found a list of the 100 most used verbs and am going to start with those. I am going ot conjugate them and study them. I am also going to work on other vocabulary. Pilar, the grandmother, and Sara, the housekeeper, both speak only spanish, so I will have them to practice on. Also, there are intercambio (language exchanges) that meet several times a week in the city. I have added a few words to what I remember from high school, but I have a long way to go, so I need to get started.
Plans for my backpacking trip in August are under way and going well. At this point it looks like I will meet Flynn in Ireland, Fly to France, then train to Germany, Switzerland, Italy, and end back in Spain. We are planning on being on the road for a whole month. Since it is only February we have six months to keep planning. I will keep you posted as more is decided on.
Tonight I am going to get a ride into Madrid with the family. Then I will take the metro to meet with my friend, Krista. Krista leaves Spain for the states in only a few days. We are going to the teleferico. Which is a cable car ride that offers awesome views of the city. Then we will meet with Jenny and some of her friends for tapas and drinks. I think it will be a fun night.
As soon as I can load pictures again, I will. Stay tuned.
